Inspiring Inclusivity: Choose to Challenge

The theme for this year's International Women's Day is #ChooseToChallenge, highlighting how a challenged world is an alert world. An accurate reflection of the occurrences of the past year, both related and unrelated to the worldwide pandemic, IWD hopes companies around the world can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality to create a more inclusive world. In celebration of International Women's Day and this theme, we curated a gift box featuring items from a few of our favourite Canadian, women-owned businesses who we feel are embodiments of this theme this day, and every other day of the year.

The AHLOT Relax at Home kit kicks off with a BUFF Face and Body scrub from Wildcraft, a natural skincare brand based in Toronto, ON. Founded by Laura Whitaker, their skincare line looks to disrupt luxury skincare brands with their in house production process and accessible price points. Extra care is always taken to source ingredients that are organic, cruelty-free, never tested on animals, elemental or plant-based, sustainable and/or socially conscious.

Following the scrub, we recommend slipping into some comfy sweats made by Superette, a cannabis retail brand that's no stranger to challenging the status quo. Co-founded by Mimi Lam, and run by a 67% female leadership team at their home office, Superette has become a force to be reckoned with when it comes to community initiatives. Their commitment starts with food accessibility and spans to amplification and education around causes done in partnership with Urban Alliance on Race Relations, Cannabis Amnesty and Broccoli Magazine's Floret Coalition.

Next up in the AHLOT Relax At Home box is a 3 pack bundle of Asian-inspired, 'Nufs superfood packets to help you recharge. Created by sisters Jess and Kristine, this company was built with the goal of changing the way we snack. Inspired by their families' health needs, the sister crafted 'Nufs to offer nutritious and filling snacks without all the sugar commonly found in traditional snack foods. Plant-based, gluten-free and made with no refined sugars, these bites are sure to make you think twice about the food you're putting into your body.

With your energy levels upped, it's time to cook up a storm for lunch! Included in our Relax at Home box is a trio set of JOCO JAEW chilli spread, featuring the original, truffle and XHOT flavours. Created by two friends who bonded over an appreciation of good food and ethnic recipes, JOCO brings about a flare of Southeast Asian tastes to the Canadian food market. As a form of giving back to the community, the two female entrepreneurs have also chosen to donate a portion of all sales to the Riverdale Immigrant Women's Centre in Toronto.

With lunch out of the way, it's time to prep for your cannabis ritual. We've included a lip scrub from Three Ships, a skincare line created by Laura and Connie, two friends who were frustrated with how high-quality natural skincare cost so much. Featured on Dragon's Den (and taking home a good amount of investments!), these entrepreneurs are building a skincare empire rivalling the goliaths in their industry.

The OHAI Joint Ring is the next thing included in the Relax at Home kit. Elevate your traditional puff-puff-pass technique with this little tool that keeps the joint secure, especially if used in a bath ;) Founded in 2018 in BC by Emily, OHAI's line of Elevated Essentials empowers those who consume cannabis with accessories that reflect their personal lifestyle choices. With the goal of normalizing and de-stigmatizing cannabis use, OHAI hopes to shine a light on the world of possibilities brought on by cannabis.

Last but certainly not least, our Relax at Home kit is completed by our customizable and lockable Ritual Box. This specific box comes with a limited edition Shop Cori co-branded rolling tray to use with your personal cannabis ritual. A female-founded and black-owned Toronto retail store, Shop Cori focuses on providing cannabis fit for each individual's unique wellness goals.
